Surgery today

It’s almost 8am and I’m jusg waiting to hear when my surgery will be. Should be this morning sometime but it’s just a matter of waiting to hear exactly when!

I’m actually starting to get hungry now which is annoying and I’m proberly not going to be feeling well for lunch. So long as I’m not stuck waiting until this afternoon for my operation it’ll bd fine!

In hospital

I’m in my room on the ward now and waiting to get a line put in. I’m on a blood thinner which needs to be swapped over for another one which can be neutralised before my surgery on Monday.

One good thing is that I’m winthin distance of 2 Pokestops on PokemonGo from my room so I can play more easily while I’m here! I do think I’m going to be boried while I wait for my surgery so that’s going to be nice.

No idea when my surgery is going to be other than on Monday. It does sound hopeful that I’ll be first or at worset second due to the blood thinner they will be giving me here.

Another scan

I got an unexpected phone call about needing another scan tomorrow afternoon so they can check my liver. One annoying thing is I can’t eat for 4 hours before hand and with the appitment being at 2pm it’s pretty much going to mean I might as well wait until dinner before eating much again as I proberly won’t be home again until after 3pm/3.30pm depending on how long the scan takes and the traffic.

I had a biopsy on Monday afternoon, which I haven’t got the results back from yet. Hopefully there won’t be anything else after the scan tomorrow in the run up to my actual operation, which is in less than 2 weeks home now!

History documentaies

Admittly this is going to be more a reminder for me when I’m in hospital, but it’s also a series of recomendations to anyone reading this….

  • Mary Beard’s documentaies. Somewhere between what I’d expect from a University lecture and a TV documentary.
  • LucyWorsley, more made for TV than Mary Beard. (Her series on the lives of English servants in the 19th and early 20th century was very interesting.)

Am adding go the list as I think of things yo watch….

  • Travel Alone Idea – a Japanese travel blog ln youtube. I like it a lot more than I’d think and I wouldn’t need to concentrate on plot in the days after my operaton…

Covid and my surgery

I’ve just gotten a phone call confirming my surgery for next month. Which is great. The woman I spoke to said ud I get covid-19 between now and my surgery it’ll be put offfor 7(!!) weeks. Which would be a horrible wait!

I’m not that sick at the moment but I am very slowly getting worse with each passing day/week and really don’t want to put off any longer…. And I want to make sure I have as little time off work as pratical too.

Surgery Dates

I should be having my surgery on Monday the 5th of September, which means I’ll be going into hospital on Saturday the 3rd and coming back home sometime at the end of the week/the following weekend if all goes well! I am a bit disappointed it’s not going to be this month as I do want to get it over and done with asap but the start of next month could be a lot worse!

I am currently planning on taking the week before hand off, so that I reduce the chances of me getting sick with a cold, the flu, or covid and spend the whole week at home basically… The last thing I want at the moment is to have my surgery postponed because I’ve caught something else!

Surgery/hospital

Sometime, hopefully, in the next 2 to 3 weeks I’ll be in hospital for about 7 days for a majorish surgery. I’m currently assuming I’m going to be boried a lot of that time and one of the things I’m sort of planning on doing is posting here more often on the days I’m feeling well enough to do so… At the very least I will have 2 days before the surgey in hodpital as they change over the blood thinner I’m currently on to one that can be neutralised during the surgery itself.
